I am the WORST football fan. Let's just be real. I'm not much of a sport TV watcher in general. The situation becomes more bleak when the game lasts more than two hours. I just can't concentrate or sit still that long! Now sport outings or parties... count me in! My favorite games to celebrate are of course my Alma Mater's games. Fight On Trojans! However, the Super Bowl definitely comes in a close second. I love any excuse to be a little rowdy, eat delicious food, enjoy a few cold beverages, and pretend like I have a clue what's going on on the field. I know what you're thinking. Does she really eat all that game-day food?? Well, yes, and no. Whether
SUGAR!!! The food group we all love to hate. We crave it, dream about it, all while trying to avoid it. I will admit it's my weakness. I have a major sweet tooth. During the holidays I let my sweet tooth have all the fun. However, over the past week as I've tried to get back into my normal healthy habits, my heightened desire to eat chocolate has lingered. Day after day I've told myself, "Today I am going to just say no. Just one day to break the habit." Sound familiar? I talk a lot about balance here at Life in Spandex. I urge you to give in to your cravings regularly in a responsible way. And I mean it!
I know we're all thinking it, where in the world did this past year go?! Looking back at 2015, I feel really good about the things I accomplished and I'm hopeful that 2016 will top it! If you're on one of my Nutrition Plans, you know that I am a full believer in a carbohydrate-rich diet. But, there's a time and place for starches. When I eat my breakfast at night, it looks a little different. It's higher in protein and healthy fats and lower in starchy carbohydrates. This makes a veggie-packed egg white omelette the best option for night-time! I use egg whites instead of whole eggs for a couple of reasons. 1) They're 100% protein. There's no fat and no
Yup, yesterday was my birthday! I love my birthday. It feels so good to receive so much love from friends and family on a day that celebrates my life. Thank you all so much for making me feel adored! You guys are the best :D. My birthday is also like a refresh button. I use it as a reminder to reflect on the past year, the good, the bad, the beautiful, and the ugly. I learn from what worked and what didn't, and then I wipe the slate clean. For some, a birthday can also be a trigger for comparison. Instead of celebrating the gifts life has already given us, we dwell. We nitpick the missing pieces of the life we planned to
