Love Your Body Day 1 – Change Your Perception to Change Your Reflection

Welcome to the Love Your Body Challenge- 7 Days to Love the Skin You’re In! To kick off our mini 7-day journey, I want you to start by looking in the mirror. I know, sometimes the mirror can be a daunting thing. I have clients who avoided the mirror for years because they didn’t like what they saw. Let me tell ya. If you don’t love your body now, at whatever weight it is currently, it’s going to be pretty damn hard to love it even when you do see change.

I remember having a conversation with another trainer at the gym about a patch of fat I could grab under my sports bra strap. Eventually we started laughing because it was absurd how I was concentrating on one small section of my body instead of looking at my progress as a whole. This is an equation for disaster! Going to great length to find flaws, that no one else probably notices, is an easy path to negative body image, disordered eating, and depression. And let me tell you from experience, no matter how thin you get or how much muscle you build, you will always be able to find “imperfections.” It’s a one-way ticket to crazy-town.

Today, we are going to change your perception to change your refletion! Take five minutes to look in the mirror and choose five things you love about your body! I wanted to ask you to find ten, but we’ll start small. If you can name more than that, get it girl!

  3. I too focus on just one part of my body when working out. What I need to remember is working out all over will eventually help me tame the “problem” area.

  4. OK Em, here I go! I love my blue-green eyes, my curly red hair, my boobs, my legs, my feet, my shoulders, and even my tummy (which helped me carry you, my dear daughter). Woohoo!!!!

  5. I love this! I love the idea of looking at myself and instead of picking apart everything we hate about ourselves.
    Okay so 5; I have really clear skin, my boobs are awesome, I like my nose, my lips and (this one is awkward) my eyelids….oh screw it I’m perfect lol

  6. It is great to appreciate the body you have now. It may not be perfect but I do appreciate that I’m healthy & strong.

  7. Our bodies are always a work in progress and right now, mine is progressing towards child birth in a few months. My current 5 fav things about my body are 1) my belly holding my little princess , 2) my hair, it’s straight and healthy which makes it easy to get out of the house, 3) my legs, I have strong dancer legs which I am proud of, 4) my lips, they have the awesome power to fix boo boo and show love, and 5) my bum it’s just the right amount of bubble, lol.

  9. Love this. We can’t focus our energies on the negative–that just breeds more negativity. I love my eyes, my nose, my lips, my calves, and my shoulders

  13. Five things, huh? Okay, here I go……1. My calves, yep they are okay. 2. My eyes. The color really and the fact that whatever I am thinking, my eyes reflect those thoughts. 3. My feet — they carry me where I need to go and they are small feet. 4. My freckles. It took me 60 years to like ’em and years of being called “Freckle face strawberry”. 5. My waist because Emily is helping me to find it again and it was a nice one way back when.
