Is it just me or does it seem like no one is really impartial to Valentine’s Day. People either seem to love it or hate it. Whether I’m single or in a relationship, I love any excuse to buy/receive flowers and eat chocolate. So count me in as a lover, not a hater!
Ever since this blogging thang, I like to use Valentine’s Day as an excuse to celebrate loving myself, and to help you do the same! Last year, the Love Your Body Challenge was a huge hit. Thank you to everyone who participated last year. The feedback I got from this seven-day body confidence challenge is still fresh in my mind. You guys make it so easy for me to find gratitude! 🙂
This Pre- Valentine’s Day Week, I want to remind you how one of the best ways to show your body love is to make it sweat. Building muscle, increasing bone density, boosting your metabolism and insulin resistance, improving mood, and reducing stress are all the miraculous ways exercise can help you fall in love with yourself. I’ve found that my muscular strength is correlated with my mental strength. Pushing myself through a hard workout, picking up a heavier set of dumbbells, running faster or further, or doing an extra set of lunges reminds me how much I’m truly capable of when I push my doubts and fears aside and just do the da*n thing.
I love barre because it concentrates on some of my favorite things – form, body awareness, posture, core strength, booty building, and balance. It’s also low impact so anyone can do it. And oh yes ma’am, this Total Body Barre Workout will make you burn, shake, sculpt, and sizzle! Hot dayumn! Grab a set of two or three pound dumbbells, a mini band, a ball, and a barre (or side of a table, chair, desk, something a little lower than waist height) and complete as many reps as possible of each exercise in 60 seconds. Don’t forget to cool down with a stretch at the end.
