Happy Thanksgiving & 3 Ways to Find Thanks Any Day

I love everything about Thanksgiving! Yes, I love getting to share delicious food with my family and loved ones. But what I love most about this holiday is how it reminds us to find gratitude for all of the blessings we already have. Too often we are always looking for more; more money, more friends, more house, more cars, more willpower, more time to workout. Take time today to realize that you already have so much! Find thanks for the life you have now. It may not be perfect, but I’m sure it’s filled with lots to be grateful for.

Maybe you’re having trouble today (or any other day) finding the positive. When you get stuck in a rut, use these 3 tips to help you realize how great your life really is!

1. Make a list. 

Write down all the things you’re thankful for. They can be anything! Having a warm place to sleep, food to eat, feeling your heart beating, having that one friend who is always there when you need her/him. Start small and the rest will pour out. Seeing all of your blessings helps you find perspective and realize how much you already have.

2. Give a compliment. 

Light up someone else’s day with a small act of kindness. When you see the smile on his/her face you’ll realize how truly powerful you are at spreading optimism. Every one of you is vital in creating a positive world for all of us to feel affirmation, acceptance, love, and kindness. Feeling shy? Share a smile! Challenge: Smile or compliment a complete stranger!

3. Write a love note.. to yourself!

Pretend as if you were your best friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, sibling, mom, or dad. Write down all the reasons you love being you in a letter to yourself. I know, it sounds weird. Just trust me! We must adore ourselves first and foremost. Having a love affair with yourself can be one of the most exhilarating experiences.
